Alabama CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Alabama, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.
Renewal Requirements
RN
- First renewal
- 4 contact hours of Alabama Board-provided continuing education related to Board functions, the Nurse Practice Act, regulations, professional conduct, and accountability
- Every two years
- 24 hours of continuing education
LPN
- First renewal
- 4 contact hours of Alabama Board-provided continuing education related to Board functions, the Nurse Practice Act, regulations, professional conduct, and accountability
- Every two years
- 24 hours of continuing education
Advanced Practice
- APNs are required to earn six of the required 24 hours in pharmacology.
