New York CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of New York, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every four years
- Infection control coursework (if you did not graduate from a NYSED nursing program after September 1990)
- One-time requirement
- 2 hours on the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment (if you did not graduate from a NYSED nursing program in the last 4 years)
LPN
- Every four years
- Infection control coursework (if you did not graduate from a NYSED nursing program after September 1990)
Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists who prescribe controlled substances under a facility DEA registration number
- Every 3 years
- 3 hours on pain management, palliative care, and addiction
