Oregon CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Oregon, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). To assist you in meeting your state’s continuing education requirements, we have added links to related topics. Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every two years:
- 400 nursing practice hours
- If less than 600 hours in prior 3 years, 20 hours of continuing education is required
- If less than 800 hours in prior 4 years, 30 hours of continuing education is required
- Less than 960 hours of practice in prior 5 years must apply for practice re-entry
- Every renewal
- 2-hour cultural competence continuing education
- One-time requirement
LPN
- Every two years
- 400 nursing practice hours
- If less than 600 hours in prior 3 years, 20 hours of continuing education is required
- If less than 800 hours in prior 4 years, 30 hours of continuing education is required
- Less than 960 hours of practice in prior 5 years must apply for practice re-entry
- Every renewal
- 2-hour cultural competence continuing education
- One-time requirement
Advanced Practice
- Every two years
- Must renew RN license and complete continuing education requirements if less than 400 hours of APRN practice in prior two years
- For NPs licensed prior to January 2011, national certification is not required for renewal.
- Instead, a minimum of 45 hours of continuing education in the population foci is required
- Every renewal
- 2-hour cultural competence continuing education
- One-time requirement
