Utah CE Requirements for License Renewal
As a nurse in the state of Utah, you are required to earn continuing education to renew your active license. All of our CE activities are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Please ensure that any activity meets the requirements of your state board of nursing.
Renewal Requirements
RN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education, or 15 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of licensed practice, or 400 hours of licensed practice
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
LPN
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education, or 15 hours of continuing education and 200 hours of licensed practice, or 400 hours of licensed practice
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
Advanced Practice
- Every two years
- 30 hours of continuing education and at least 400 hours of licensed practice if licensed as an APRN prior to July 1, 1992
- 4 hours in controlled substance prescribing, including: 3.5 hours of approved controlled substance education and 0.5 hours from DOPL's online controlled substance tutorial, for APRN with controlled substance
- One of the Utah-specified suicide training programs
